Red Flag, Orange Cone!!

2 min read

The colors red and orange are often associated with caution, danger, and/or alert.

If we notice them and heed their warning we can avoid danger or at least reduce their

potential negative impact.

Sadly, there is not a physical red flag that waves over the head of the toxic relationship,

soul draining job, or lying salesperson. In life, we must learn what the red flags are the hard way, by experience.

On a good day, we may learn from the mistakes of others. On a great day, we may analyze the situation, collect all the potentials, and make the best decision.

On a bad day, we may repeat the same mistake over and over, telling ourselves this time will be different. On a terrible day, we may ignore the bad feeling in our gut, disregard the advice of trusted friends, and do what we want to regardless of the consequences.

No matter what day it is for you right now, PAUSE.

Are there red flags you have been ignoring?

RED FLAGs leave you feeling isolated, burnt out, hopeless, used, inadequate, and less than.

Are there orange cones you have been ignoring?

ORANGE CONEs create thoughts like this is not what I expected, I can't live like this much longer, and I am stuck.

You may not see them with your eyes, but you will feel them in your shoulders, chest, and stomach and hear them in your thoughts.

It is time to look for the green flags and green lights.

Green often symbolizes healthy, growth, proceed.

GREEN FLAGS and GREEN LIGHTS are people, places, things and situations where you feel

  1. Heard

  2. Respected

  3. Nurtured

  4. Refreshed

  5. Hopeful

  6. Accepted

and 7. Trust based on evidence not just fancy promises.

My hope is that Lightbulb Moments is one of those places where you find your people, get your things, and create situations where your life is full of Green Flags/Lights.
